mr. gong is also currently co-chiarman of thl china capital holdings, the china affiliate of thomas h. lee partners, one of the world’s oldest and most experienced private equity firms.
he is a veteran private equity investor with a focus on china related businesses, both domestically and globally. he was previously an investor in and the president of hong kong listed citic 21cn corporation.
prior to that, as a senior investment banker with goldman sachs in new york and hong kong and a key member of the firm’s early greater china team, he had led the successful completion of the firm's first ipo from china, and advised a large number of leading international, regional, and chinese corporate and government clients in a broad range of direct investing, financing and m&a activities.
mr. gong graduated with distinction from the foreign affairs university in beijing with an llb, received ma and mphil in international relations/political science from yale graduate school, and mba from nyu stern school.
