united water (uw) owns and operates water utilities (water supply and waste water treatment) in china. the business was established in 2003 with the aim of acquiring water utilities being privatized in china. the company primarily focuses on tier 3 and tier 4 cities. currently uw owns and operates four water utilities: the principal water supply companies of suqian city (jiangsu province), suizhou (hubei province), xianning (hubei province) and a 30,000 ton per day waste water treatment facility in tongxiang (zhejiang province). uw’s facilities covera population of 11.4 million. the gdp of its operating areas is more than 166 billion rmb (us$24 billion).
